Presidential pensiveness
Oct. 22nd, 2008 02:31 pmWhile I love my shop assistant to bits and we get along great in just about every other way, we couldn't be more opposite politically. She's rooting hard for McCain, while Obama is my man. The other day, though, we found ourselves curiously on the same page... we were both despondent and resigned to the fact that The Other Guy was going to win. She's looking at the poll numbers and doing the math. I'm looking at the poll numbers too, but I also realize there's still time for the Republicans to pull some seriously dirty tricks and squeak through another victory like in '00 and '04. For the Republicans it's all a game, not necessarily a fair one, to be won at all costs. Distract the referee while running down the clock and moving the goalposts, and hey presto! Touchdown!

Date: 2008-10-24 04:21 pm (UTC)fortunately we seem to be back on track. In fact my biggest concern now is that my neighbors seem to think that the "BELIEVE" banner I have hanging off my 2nd floor windows is about the Sox.
btw check out "Unruly Americans" by Woody Holton. Talk about the more things change the samer they gets...
