The Big Bailout
Sep. 25th, 2008 09:52 pmOther folks have been talking about the Big Bailout that's working its way through the congressional sausage machine.
The overwhelming image I get when I think of this is the high school kid who totals several cars. Each time his parents buy him a new car and give him a "stern talking to" about being careful and not wrecking this one... which he then proceeds to ignore and goes on to wreck the next one.
The bailout as envisioned by Paulson would be similar, minus the "stern talking to". Congress is trying to add the latter, but I doubt it will do any good.
(If this passes, I'm thinking of pitching some obscenely expensive artwork at brokerage houses, investment banks, and mortgage companies: "What are you going to spend YOUR bailout check on?")
