Missing Arisia
Jan. 19th, 2008 04:42 amSad to say, it looks like I'm going to miss Arisia this year. I've just got WAAAY too much going on in my life right now.
Since my savings have been dwindling faster than the framing business has been growing, I have been forced back into the tech world. I've got a contracting gig that's pretty good overall, but I still HATE HATE HATE having to do this. It's soaking up whatever free cycles I already didn't have.
Oh, and on the framing-business front... I just lucked into a fabulous new location for the shop. Right now I'm in an out-of-the-way corner that's hard to find... the new location is right on the main road in the center of town. Oh, and to top it all off, the local gallery owner just took space right there to set up a satellite gallery. Which means all of *his* customers will see me as well! (No, I don't mind... he and I decided to divide and conquer. He sells art better than I do, and I frame pictures better than he does. In exchange for my cutting back on art sales, he promises to stay out of the framing business :) ).
The new location was left a royal mess, though, which means a bunch of work to set it up. More free cycles that I don't have. Joy.
Which leaves no free cycles for attending Arisia. Massive bummer.
I really hate being so busy that I can't see people...

Date: 2008-01-27 07:37 pm (UTC)Arisia was good...I helped at the art show setup Thurs. night, but never got up to see the dang thing as I worked midnight to 6am(ish) Fri. and Sat. in the con suite. After con season, I'll probably have to stop by and get whatever I buy framed. (still behind on a bunch of things, but hey, SSI is a good thing!:) *BIG HUGS* Call me if you need me, or just need to vent.
