Shameless Plug / Shameless Begging
Mar. 3rd, 2006 02:00 pmMy choral group, the Nashoba Valley Chorale is working on one serious kick-ass program this season. This is the last season with our current music director, so he's decided to go out with a bang. We're doing Brahms "A German Requiem", Beethoven's "Choral Fantasy", and a world premiere of three settings of poems by Walt Whitman. Oh, and we're collaborating with his other chorus, the Braintree Choral Society, to make this one damned big show!
Big, and expensive. We're hiring 40 musicians and two soloists for this. By the time the dust settles it'll cost over $12K to put this show on. Even splitting the costs between the two rganizations means this will be big. Really big.
That said, one bit of fundraising-fu that I put together is amazon.com affiliation. If you're going to buy anything from amazon.com anyway, please go to our website and click on the amazon.com searchbox there. That way we get 5% of all purchases made... and every bit helps.
Of course, if you'd like to help out more, the website also offers links to donate to the chorale through PayPal and to buy Chorale merchandise. As soon as I clear some legal hurdles we'll be offering CDs of some of our performances as well!
Many thanks, and it would be great to see friends at either performance (the Braintree one shouldn't be too bad for Boston-folks to get to, and the Littleton one should be good for the 495 crowd...)

Date: 2006-03-03 08:18 pm (UTC)And as for getting involved in the singing, I just called and had a screaming hissy fit at my doctor's office, as they made a referral appointment for me yesterday to the sinus guy....and never bothered to let me know. I'm PISSED. And they know I'm pissed. And a new appointment will be made ASAP. Once I get the sinuses fixed, I'll be able to sing again. Right now my voice strength is just too variable to be dependable.

Date: 2006-03-03 08:39 pm (UTC)As for singing, we're already well into rehearsals and this is a tough program, so you might be better off resting your voice and joining us in the fall.

If you want to go to the March concert let me know, as the chorus makes more money that way.
