drip, drip, drip
Feb. 15th, 2006 02:03 amI was awakened at 1AM by a rapid rat-tat-tat noise that I'm all too familiar with. It means that the roof is leaking and water is dripping onto the foot of my bed. The landlord is familiar with the problem, and he has tried several times to fix it. I was even convinced that the latest re-roofing job he did would be the charm, but I guess not. Grump. I'll be so glad to be out of here! The landlord is a nice guy and all that, but since he's a contractor he thinks he can do everything himself. Last year when this problem happened he said he'd get a professional roofer to re-do the roof, but as the months dragged on he kept complaining that he couldn't find anybody (a contractor who can't find a sub?). Finally he went up and did it himself. It held for a while, but ice and water are sneaky things; obviously they must have found some breach that he didn't quite seal properly. I'll be sleeping in the living room on the guest sleeper for the remainder of the night :(
Of course, I'm going from this to a house with known water problems in the basement, but at least that water will never fall on *top* of me...
