The good news: I got my frame-shop space today! I've been working with the landlord over the past couple of days to get it ready, putting up some partition walls and insulation and doing the final cleanout. Today my lease starts and it's MINE! Now to set it up...
I figured I'd work with the landlord on the transformation, partly to show my good intentions and partly to do some "builder bonding" (he's a builder, I'm going to be building a house eventually). We fell into a good rhythm and got stuff done, and they trust me pretty well here. I said I may bring an electrician in to look at putting a subpanel in the space, they have no problem with that.
At one point, though, I took a bit of a spill while climbing down off a ladder. Didn't seem like anything at the time and I bounced right back, but a bit later I got a big swelling on my thigh where it struck the ground. Stuffed a cold-pack down my pants and went off to do my business. Had to go to the bank to open my business account, and there was more than a bit of a wait... I kept feeling the swelling to see how it's progressing... is it worth medical attention yet? (My inner hypochondriac is thinking, "Hematoma? Thrombosis? Embolism?") Damn, I don't want to lose my place here... maybe I'll call the insurance co. nurse when I get to work afterwards.
Get my business done, hit the drugstore on the way to work and pick up a couple of instant cold packs. Got to work, multiple fires to put out. After a while it's evident that the swelling is going down, so I worry a bit less.
When I get home the swelling is down significantly, but in its place is a BIG deep-purple bruise. Oh boy, I'm going to have this for a while... probably best to keep on icing it, which I do.
Funny thing is, I didn't feel all that much discomfort throughout. A bit of stiffness here, a bit of pain-on-movement there, but nowhere near the pain that the angry bruise would suggest I should have... go figure.
I hope I don't pay for this in the morning...
