Maybe I should have stayed in bed...
Feb. 19th, 2004 11:02 pmSo there's this indie movie making its big-screen debut, The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. It was only showing in Boston for one week, at the Kendall Square Cinema. The run begain during Boskone, and we didn't get a chance to see it then. We really wanted to see it because a friend of ours (Cortney Skinner) was involved with a lot of the art and props.
Well, tonight was the last night, Tam was going to be in town on other business anyway, so I figured why don't I join her this evening and make a night of it. So I turn my schedule upside-down so I can make the 5:38 train out of Worcester which will get me there Just In Time for the 7:35PM screening.
As I'm walking from the Kendall Square T stop to the theater, I see big trucks with yellow flashing lights in front of the cinema complex. Towtrucks, perhaps? As I get closer, I can make out the "NSTAR Electric" logos on them. Having been in Manhattan during the Great Blackout of 2003, I think "oh no". I look up and sure enough the parking garage is completely dark. Power outage. Judging by the way the NSTAR guys were hanging around it didn't look like it was going to be a quick fix either. Meet up with Tam and she confirms that the whole complex is shut down including the cinema.
There goes our chance to see the movie until the DVD comes out, but at least we had a nice dinner (at Pho Lemongrass in Brookline)
