I had a fun time today getting together with [livejournal.com profile] pheromone to do some stained-glass shopping. She needed glass for a project, and I needed some better glass-cutting tools for the frame shop. We went to the retail store of Whittemore-Durgan on Boston's South Shore. It's a bit of a quirky place; they definitely have a bit of a 19th-century feel about them. Unfortunately, that extends to the lighting in the store as well, which makes it a bit difficult to judge the true color and transparency of the glass. Fortunately there was daylight coming through the odd window which helped.

[livejournal.com profile] pheromone spent a fair bit of time trying to find the right color combination for her commission. I helped out a bit (having lots of experience with this with Tamara) then went off to talk to the staff about glass tools. I ended up getting a better hand cutter and a circle/oval cutter.

Back to Somerville with a detour by the house that [livejournal.com profile] pheromone is thinking of buying. I offered up my opionions as to the state of the foundation bit she was concerned about (I definitely think Something Is Up, and that it's relatively recent. Now that I think of it, perhaps water incursion and recent harsh winters are responsible)

Dropped her off back at her place, and unfortunately I had to get back to work. It would have been nice to stick around and play with glass (I need a brush-up on cutting techniques). Still, it was fun to spend time with her on artsy stuff :)
