(belated) birthday dinner
Apr. 13th, 2003 01:26 amYesterday (my birthday) was kind of a bummer... went to work, got a bug report in the morning, had it fixed by evening. Wheee!!! As consolation, stopped at Staples on the way home and bought myself a computer desk I'd been eyeing for a while. Now I just have to clean and re-arrange my computer area enough to accommodate it...
Tam was out of town today, at the Boston studio. I figure I'll call her and have a nice chat. No dice... her line was busy all night. I figure she might've knocked the phone off the hook. Later I learn that no, she was just online all night and didn't log off until 4AM or so...
I got on IRC at one point and popped in on one of my usual channels (#childfree on undernet). Turns out one of the regulars there also had his birthday on April 11. That makes four April 11 babies I've been friends/acquainted with (my great-grandfather, my first major-league high-school girlfriend, an ex-co-worker, and now this guy). Anyone else?
Today was much better. I got a lot of stuff done around the house (laundry, kitchen cleanup, straightening out a disaster of a living room, fixing a friend's computer). When I finally make contact with Tam she says "Don't do any cooking, I'm bringing dinner". Turns out she realized she'd spaced on my birthday and brought take-out Peking Duck from Chef Chang's House (a place that does one of the BEST Peking Ducks I've ever had!). It's not quite so sublime in takeout form as when it's freshly carved at tableside, but it was still a Major League Treat. More than made up for the previous day's blahs 8-)
